Hutspot Amsterdam

Hutspot Amsterdam Store/Gallery/Café

Three youngsters who had their own concept for a new shopping experience created Hutspot Amsterdam in the summer of 2012. They started their adventure in a small space on the Utrechtsestraat, offering young creatives a new platform and the opportunity to bring their products out in the open. Three months and forty brands later it was time for a bigger, better space. Soon after, Hutspot on the Van Woustraat was a fact.

This is how it works. Hutspot searches for new and interesting brands, designers, artists and entrepreneurs, offering them the chance to expose their products in their own space within the shop. Open to new approaches, Hutspot is always on the lookout for unique products that have been created with care. In exchange for a small service fee and a commission over the sold products, the boys make sure all is in good hands. Everything in the shop is for sale. Except of course for Gumbo, the dog.

The shop is divided in two large spaces. Everything from clothing, furniture, books, accessories, motorbikes and the dog can be found in the downstairs area. A few steps up is a huge, open space where you can have coffee in the café, work at the long reading table or ponder artworks in the gallery. Somehow, upstairs has quickly become a place where people of all ages come to enjoy the atmosphere together. The boys try to keep the upper floor as lively as possible, with live music in the weekends and dinner parties hosted by the team.

The concept offers opportunities in many directions and Hutspot is already looking forward to growing much, much bigger.

This is hutspot today. who knows what tomorrow brings...
